The Photography Show is always an enjoyable experience for the Glover & Howe team, and this year was no exception. This year’s show was extremely busy, and probably even more crowds than before.
This year we coincided our visit with a Glover & Howe competition for photographers to win a £250 voucher. The competition closed on the evening of the last day of the show with many entrants. Of the many visitors we had, some of course spent some time talking to us about photography, entering the competition as well as looking at their insurance requirements. Serina Mushens from River Light Photography was one such person we enjoyed speaking to, and following the final draw Serina also became the successful winner of our competition.
So, congratulations to Serina and we hope she finds the voucher a useful bonus when upgrading her photography kit in the future.
Queues for quotes
Our stand attracted a lot of attention with visitors regularly coming on to the stand to talk to us about their insurance needs. Normally, you are cajoling people over to the stand but this year we had a continuous flow of visitors to keep our team busy. At one or two stages throughout the duration of the show we had queues of people all looking for quotations for their insurance.
One guarantee with our visits to the show is meeting lots of very interesting people. This year we had a lot of specialist photographers who focused on various areas within the photographic subject arena. We had aircraft and underwater photographers, and one particular chap who specialised in shooting mountain climbing – certainly an art in itself and accompanied by a little bit of adrenalin fueled danger.
Greater awareness of specialist insurers
We noticed this year in particular how photographers and videographers were less keen to look at household insurance for their equipment, seeking out specialist insurers who could provide a more bespoke policy for the equipment and its usage. Indeed, all photographers are now more aware this is needed because of the extra cover they can gain.
Over all the show was extremely successful for the team, and always great to meet up finally with photographers we have been insuring for years. Putting names to faces really brings its rewards, and great to catch up with so many of you great and talented people at the show.
A highlight, and probably for the guys on the stand was a visit from Emma Glover the successful model dressed in a ‘Queen of Hearts’ outfit. Needless to say we were quick to organise a ‘selfie’ with Emma which can be found on our Instagram feed. She of course very much liked the fact we shared the name ‘Glover’ and a member of our team Josh Faulkner was quick to set up that most needed ‘Team Glover’ selfie.
Finishing off following our very successful visit this year we mustn’t forget the help we received from our to promotional assistants Emilie and Rosi who were absolutely brilliant. Lastly, and certainly not least it was great to see Alex Hughes from our insurers. Alex spent Monday and Tuesday with the team and very nice to catch up with him.
